Circesque is the latest book from award-winning Swiss/Italian photographer, Christian Tagliavini. Based in Switzerland, he has a unique artistic style that’s much sought after and is renowned for his environmental fashion portraits.

Throughout the project, I worked with Studio Director, Paola Bergamaschi. She had got in touch because the book was aimed at the English language market, but also because  I was a copywriter with a photography background.

The Brief: I was asked to write several sections of content from scratch plus a small amount of copy-editing of existing text for his new photo art book Circesque – a celebration of the world of the Circus, its art, and performers.

The pieces written from scratch involved putting into words Christian’s thoughts and ideas about his pictures, as well as what went into creating the amazingly styled models and sets featured in the book. The added challenge came with fitting this copy within the limited space available for text within the book’s overall design layout.

In some instances, this meant I was writing so as not to exceed the maximum number of characters possible in a line of text.
